Department of Radio-diagnosis has been one of the oldest departments of S.D.M.H and an integral part of this hospital. Department delivers enormous amount of work output every day that includes all the routine x-rays, special x-ray procedures, routine sonographies, Doppler studies and interventional procedures with a total staff of 6 full time Consultants, 2 part time Consultants, 6 DNB Residents and 13 Radiographer technicians, 1 full time Radiation Safety Officer [supervise and monitor the Radiation Protection protocols in hospital], nursing and support staff.

The department started with conventional Radiology and introduced the first Sonography machine in Rajasthan in 1986. Now it is replaced by a digital Radiography department. The Diagnostic & Interventional Radiology machinery includes 17 x-ray machines and seven Sonography machines [5 fixed and 2 portables]. We have one of the best fluoroscopy machine and certified x-ray units and equipments. Now we have ultramodern USG machines including portable color Doppler, latest USG machine with 3D/4D probes capable of performing Doppler studies, musculo-skeletal studies, soft tissue studies, & all Obstetrics & Gynecological studies.

The department is running diploma course for technicians (D.M.R.T) since OCT. 1991 in association with Indian Medical Association, New Delhi. These trained Radiographers play a major role in running the department in and beyond Rajasthan.
The department has two wings since new OPD building became operational in year 2010 [in OPD and in IPD].
Our old department continues to serve IPD patients and emergency services while the New OPD department has three USG, one Mammography unit and two Digital x-ray Radiography units. Full time interventional facility is also integrated within the department of Radiology [housed in IPD section].
Section of CT Scan, MRI and Nuclear Medicine are although outsourced but are very much part of training of Radiology DNB candidates and also so that coordinated diagnosis output is provided under one roof. The department is recognized by National Board of Examination for training [DNB] in Radio-diagnosis since 1992 [1 seat for primary candidate and 1 for secondary diploma every year]. Twenty five DNB candidates have passed [one gold medalist] and are working at places of repute across the globe.
